Chandrayaan.... is that your girl friend from north India??
This was the question asked by my friend, when I asked her about the greatest mission ever done in & by India.
I do not know how many of them know about the whole mission, but I am putting my pen down(actually, I'm typing this) here to say about Indians view
Guys, who really do not know anything about this mission, please visit http://www.isro.org/Chandrayaan/htmls/home.htm
I am a bit patriotic here rather being paranoid. Why people(Indians) really do not care about this? Are they ignoring it?
I promise you they are'nt. They are really watching the US elections closely and can answer to all the questions related to their campaign.
If they can spend time to know about this, why cant they just spend 5 minutes to know about this mission
"I do not want to know about it, while lot of people are dying out of hunger in India. And US is the that helps to feed India. So I am watching it" this is another reply.
(namakkum intha GK kum eni vachalaum ettathu) "I am soooo weak in GK" another reply
One of my close friend works in the area of remote sensing. He was sleeping at the time of launch when I called him to share my happiness.
Yet another reply "I know that they have launched it and XXXX(same guy who was sleeping) is cleaning it "
"It has not yet landed??? Ooops its really very slow". I said "No. not yet"" Do you think still it is revolving around the moon and not yet landed. How many times will it go around it, stupid????" one more.
"I have a lotta work...I do not have time to check these things"
I am really fed up with all these replies.
"You just read the news from the Internet and now you are showing off as if you know everything and you are the one who ignited the vessel during its launch"Ok I agree that I read the blogs and sites. I just wanted to know how people will get to know things without reading paper or internet? Will Obama visit everyone at their doorstep and say I am elected as the 44th president of USA????
If they really do not know something about a subject, atleast they should not discourage the others who know about it.
I am really very weak in reading news and to know about what is happening around me. To be precise, I havent ever touched a newspaper.
I am the one who asked one of my friend "When did the 9/11 incident happen??", but I know it happened and there was a heavy loss.
Atleast I have an excuse that I was not in US when that incident happened and its not of my concern. (However I serve the software industry LOL)
Lot of Indians have the question, what is the necessity of this mission?? spending lakhs and crores of Tax money while people suffer from issues like poverty, famine, earthquake, terrorism, etc.,
I really do not how many countries would have recognised India as a raising super power exluding the politicians and business men. When it comes to the common people, they see us as beggars and refugees. This is a fact and people who are away from our Homeland cannot deny this. (Maybe those who work with them or live nearby can be friendly)
Chandrayaan is one such mission that proves to the world who we are and where we stand. Stop shouting out to the world that the famous kohinoor diamond is from India that crowns the Queen of England. Common dude...grow up!!!!
I have seen a lot of people criticising India (knowingly or unknowingly) when they have a conversation with their clients or a non-Indian.
"Wowww cooll!!! you roads are sooo organised. If it comes to India you can see dog pee-ing the middle of the thing, the so called road""India is toooo congested, lot of population, too much pollution...but your country is awesome!!!"
I just wanted to ask them only one question, when you can criticise your own country, why on the other hand can't you tell others that we have successfully launched our mission to moon.
I can hear a voice saying "Hey duffer!!! US and other countries have already done this... try something new". yes I agree, but just tell me how many years after independence did they complete the mission??
We, Indians, have done this in almost 60 years!!!! where we have a lot of differences (cultural, linguistic, religious) and what not?? But still we stand above all distinctly.
Just wanted to finish this with a more simple question. People do have issues in their family. Even I have issues that is known to all, but that does not mean that I go out and criticise my family for being bad. Being a member of the family I will work hard to maintain its dignity and pride.
So Indians feel proud about this and feel proud to be an Indian!!!
